Preparation tips for Template:

Now that we are at the template stage we will need to know whether this job is a renovation or a new build. If it is a new build we recommend having the cabinet installer and the homeowner there in case the cabinets are not 100% complete or there are any detailed questions to be answered. If you did not purchase your sinks from VI Granite & Quartz Countertops we will need to take them with us at the time of measure. We will also need your faucets. If you did purchase a sink from VI Granite & Quartz Countertops we will already have all the information we need at our shop so you do not need to worry.

Removal of laminate countertops

Remove the laminate countertop and dispose of it properly. VI Granite & Quartz Countertops can do this for you at an additional cost.

  • To remove the top yourself you need to locate the screw beneath the counter and remove them.
  • Take a razor knife to the caulking holding your countertop to the wall.
  • Remove sink and unhook plumbing
  • Remove and dispose of existing countertop

*Note: not all laminate countertops are installed the same, therefore instructions above may very slightly.

When VI Granite & Quartz Countertops templates we will need to know the following:

  • Sinks (sink template and mounting hardware.)
  • Type of stove (traditional slide-in, flat slide-in or cooktop, popup hood fans, etc.)
  • Faucet/Soap dispenser We will need to know the placement of you faucet or soap dispenser.
  • Profile/Edge details
  • Corner Details Standard Ease or 1 Radius.
  • Overhang details Do you need additional support?

Preparation tips for Installation:

When we show up for your installation we ask that you have all appliances out of the kitchen. To protect your floors we bring our own rollout rubber mats to use during installation.

Installation checklist

  • Countertops removed
  • Backsplash removed (if applicable)
  • Plumbing disconnected
  • Sink cupboard empty so sink can be mounted
  • Stove disconnected/unplugged and out of the way
  • Fridge moved out of the way
  • Complete unobstructed access

Have you arranged a Plumber?

We recommend that you arrange your plumber for the day after installation, as the silicone and epoxy holding your sink up takes 24 hours to fully cure.

Do you have a natural gas stove?

When we show up for installation we will need your stove out of the way, so if it is already hooked up we recommend you contact you gas company to disconnect the stove prior to installation. When the installation is complete you have arrange to have him come back and connect your stove.
